What happens after I can’t pay a debt that is currently in collections by an attorneys office?

Well most likely they won’t do anything this first time. You’ll probably get a call and they will say to get the money to them as soon as possible. If this keeps happening they could potentially garnish your wages or sue. This is last case scenario. My advice is to call them tell them your situation and listen to their response. Also you never said how much you owe them. This could play a role in what options you might have. if it’s not a very big amount they probably won’t take legal action because it’s not worth the return. If it’s for a large amount they are more likely to take things to a higher extreme. If this is the case you might need to seek a debt settlement professional.
