Is debt settlement a scam?

Posted on 07 February 2010 by Debt Helper

Please don’t do that
They will charge you a hefty fee and leave you worse off than if you just left things as they are now.
If you are so upside down financially, you might want to contact a bankruptcy attorney and see what your options are.
If you feel you can pay this 20k back, go find a local chapter of: http://www.nfcc.org and work with them. They are NON profit and will not charge you to help sort out your finances and get your debt PAID!Honestly speaking, there are legitimate companies out there as I have worked for one in the past for several years. The only problem is their service can cost you an arm and leg. I stopped working because my husband and I had a child, but I was also outraged at some of the extra fees some companies would tack on their clients for no reason.

You really have to also see if debt settlement would be the right option for you. Of course, if you call one up they’ll definitely tell you they are the best choice for you. Don’t believe them right away, as all their representatives get paid on commission for each client they enroll.

I am a debt analyst and can help you find the right solution that fits your needs. With no money, there may be other options that might work out better for you, but remember debt settlement itself is NOT a scam, but some of the companies out there can be.
