Do debt relief companies really work? If so which is best?

Run, and run away fast if they have the words:
negotiation, or settlement.
They do nothing for you that you can’t do yourself.
They make millions by charging you a lower interest rate.
Ex: from 22% avearge to 15%.
The truth is they settle, sometimes for half of the bill, while never telling you.
They pocket the money you are paying each month.
Also, this settling process ruins your credit.
They go for months without paying your bills.
This makes the creditors nervous enough to "sometimes" settle.
The major complaint is that you end up in court anyway.

You can do all this yourself:
Let me repeat – you can easily do all this yourself with a bit of efford.
Go to your library or bookstore and get a book on debt/ credit repair in the finance section.
They teach you how to negotiate, settle, and reduce interest rates.
Without paying an outside company thousands of extra dollars that they pocket.

If you don’t have the time to read, or just feel overwhelmed by following a good book contact.

is the resource that help me a lot.No, they don’t. They will take a huge upfront fee and will tell you not to pay your bills. They will try to convince you that gives them more leverage with your creditors. In reality, all it does is ruin your credit history and score and subject you to wage garnishment and/or lawsuits. A legitimate agency would confirm with each of your creditors whether they will accept you into a debt management plan.

There are community-based, non-profit consumer credit counseling agencies that will help you for a much lower fee and they will work with your creditors to see whether you qualify for a debt management plan (DMP). A debt management plan takes from 30 to 60 months to complete, and while you are in the plan, you likely will not be able to get new credit. However, your credit score and history will be protected, unlike bankruptcy.

With a DMP, the consumer credit counselor may be able to negotiate a lower interest rate, forgiveness of late fees, and sometimes a reduction of the outstanding balances. You will pay the agency a single amount from each paycheck and they will send the agreed amounts to your creditors.

To find a legitimate accredited non-profit consumer credit counseling agency, contact the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. They are NOT a government agency. They are a non-profit foundation serving legitimate consumer credit counseling agencies.
