I want to bundle up all my debts that are in collections, and pay them all in one settlement, but how?

My best advice is debt consolidation. There are a lot of agencies who can help you, though I’m pretty sure some only deal with credit card collections. I believe that you have to get all your information together for them, so you should go to www.freecreditreport.com and get a full listing of all your debt before you meet with them. I think they also charge a small fee for helping you, but these agencies often negotiate with the collection agencies to minimize your debt so you have to pay less. They also make it so you only have to pay one monthly amount, and can usually work with you to make it a reasonable sum.debt consolidations companies charge for the service. remember that before you contact them. make payment arrangements with the collector that hold the balance for your classes.keep the agreement. you will be just fine without spending money to pay back money.Hi Curious Mo
The good news…
1. You only have a little over $1,000 in debts which is very manageable if you know how to tackle them (I’ll get to that).
2. It is possible to negotiate a deduction or discount on unsecured debts.
The bad news…
1. You cannot settle your debts all at once as they are owed to at least two separate creditors. You will have to negotiate with each creditor separately.
2. If these debts show up on your credit report (which I’m sure they do), settling them for less than what you owe will leave a black mark on your report for the next 7 years. You’ll have to ask yourself if this is worth it to save a few hundred dollars.
3. Typically creditors will only settle a debt for less than what is owed if they fear that they are not going to be paid at all (ie they are afraid that you might declare bankruptcy). If your creditors think you have the money they will likely sue you instead of settling, and you don’t want that. (For your reference, here is a good "No B.S." guide to debt settlement… http://www.debt-help-and-beyond.com/debt-settlement.html )
What you "should" do…
With all due respect to the other answers so far, debt consolidation (and I’m talking about a debt management program here, not a loan) is not an option for you. Debt consolidation programs typically work best with credit card debt where interest rates can be lowered and penalties and fees can be eliminated.
So, no debt consolidation, and no debt settlement. What’s left you ask?
I know you might not want to hear this but, pay off the debt!
You will save your credit, avoid potential lawsuits and judgments, and you will end up in much better financial shape. Here’s how.
First, get yourself on a budget that has you living below your means. Take every extra dollar at the end of each month and put it towards paying down your debts. You will be surprised not only how fast your debts can be paid off this way, but once they are your financial future will look a whole lot brighter. And once the debts are gone, take that "extra" money each month and start saving for the future. Now that’s a goal worthy of pursuing.
Too many people think that the only way to get rid of debt is by using some trick or special program when in fact the answer lies within themselves. Mo, use this "opportunity" to start yourself down the path of financial prosperity.
