Any job that requires you to have a security clearance is compromised now. Can this effect your officer status, it's possible. Excessive debt and bad credit are two of the top reasons people are not given clearances. I am not going to say that it is impossible though because I have seen people in your situation get a clearance, but it just makes it that much harder.
